On the night before he leaves for college upstate, Braden Hall, a black American Angeleno, returns home to find his mother in yet another drunken upset state. Braden goes into his usual protection mode and gets his younger brother Cyler, out of the house to distract him from seeing their mother in that state. While they’ve dealt with this all before, tonight is different because Braden realises that he will leave his little brother to fend for himself while he’s away at college. It becomes Braden’s mission to make a man out of Cyler on their last night together.
